Thierry Bolloré quitte la direction générale de Jaguar Land Rover / L'ancien patron de Renault partira à la fin de l’année
Il avait pourtant eu de l’ambition. Seulement deux ans après son arrivée à la direction générale de Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), propriété du groupe indien Tata Motors, Thierry Bolloré a décidé de partir. Il a annoncé, ce jeudi soir, sa démission et celle-ci sera effective le 31 décembre prochain.
Un départ voulu "pour raisons personnelles", mais qui intervient quelques jours seulement après la publication des résultats financiers du plus gros constructeur britannique. En effet, l’arrivée de Thierry Bolloré chez JLR, en septembre 2020, était censée relancer la marque de luxe en perte depuis plusieurs années. S’il a réussi à faire progresser le chiffre d’affaires de près de 36% à 5,26 milliards de livres (5,98 milliards d’euros) au cours de son deuxième trimestre 2022 (exercice fiscal 2022-2023), la marque a tout de même perdu 173 millions de livres (198 millions d’euros) avant impôts. Sur la période, les ventes de Jaguar ont diminué de 9,9% sur un an alors que celles de Land Rover ont baissé de 3,6%.
Au total, au premier semestre, JLR a perdu 542 millions de livres, soit 619 millions d’euros, et ce malgré un chiffre d’affaires en hausse de 9,4% à 9,67 milliards de livres (11,05 milliards d’euros).
Il faut dire que le secteur automobile britannique connaît depuis la crise sanitaire de graves problèmes de production. Entre Inquiétudes sur le Brexit, pénuries de semi-conducteurs, difficultés d’approvisionnement, hausse des coûts de fabrication et inflation, l’ambitieux plan stratégique, "Reimagine" annoncé l’année dernière par Thierry Bolloré pour transformer JLR et faire passer la marque Jaguar vers le tout électrique d’ici 2025 n’a pas encore eu le temps de porter ses fruits.
Rappelons que Thierry Bolloré, 59 ans, officiait auparavant au sein du groupe Renault, qu’il avait rejoint en 2012 en qualité de directeur des fabrications et de la logistique. Il avait été nommé en 2018 directeur général par interim, à la suite de l’affaire Carlos Ghosn, avant d’être finalement lui-même démis de ses fonctions un an plus tard par le conseil d’administration de Renault.
Il a débuté sa carrière en 1990 chez Michelin comme chef d’atelier dans une usine de pneus pour poids lourds avant de gravir progressivement les échelons et d’être nommé, douze ans plus tard, vice-président monde de Michelin, chargé de l’industrie pour la branche avion.
En 2005, il avait intégré le groupe Faurecia, au poste de vice-président Asie avant de prendre, cinq ans plus tard, la vice-présidence monde, chargé de l’industrie, de la qualité et des achats.
