Société Générale pourrait renoncer à sa banque privée au Royaume-Uni
Selon Bloomberg, la banque chercherait à vendre son activité de banque privée outre-Manche et travaillerait avec Rothschild & Co pour sonder de potentiels acheteurs.

Société Générale semble vouloir poursuivre sa réorganisation à marche forcée. Engagée dans un plan de restructuration visant à supprimer 1.600 postes et diminuer ses coûts de près de 500 millions d'euros afin d'augmenter ses ratios de fonds propres, la banque ne cesse de réduire la voilure. Après la vente de sa filiale de détail polonaise début novembre et de sa banque privée belge, il y a un an, c'est au Royaume-Uni que les prochaines grandes manœuvres pourraient avoir lieu.
D'après Bloomberg, qui cite des sources proches du dossier, Société Générale préparerait la vente de Kleinwort Hambros, sa division britannique de banque privée. Le groupe aurait commencé à jauger de l'intérêt d'acheteurs potentiels et travaillerait sur cette opération avec Rothschild & Co.
Une information que Société Générale ne souhaite pas commenter. Quoi qu'il en soit, cette opération pourrait s'inscrire logiquement dans la restructuration en cours, qui recentre la banque sur ses points forts : la banque de détail et la banque de financement.
Société Générale avait racheté en mars 2016 les activités de Kleinwort Benson au Royaume-Uni et de Kleinwort Benson dans les îles Anglo-normandes auprès d'Oddo & Cie. L'idée était de les réunir à sa propre activité de banque privée pour créer une des plus grandes entités du secteur outre-Manche avec près de 14 milliards de livres sous gestion et des bureaux au Royaume-Uni, Guernesey, Jersey et Gibraltar.
