Deux nouvelles têtes au Conseil d'analyse économique

Le Conseil d’analyse économique, qui regroupe la fine fleur des économistes français, accueille deux nouveaux chercheurs en son sein. Deux profils bien différents.

C’est une institution qui fait peu de bruit, pourtant sa production intellectuelle est significative et s’insère toujours avec pertinence et recul dans les débats qui agitent la sphère politique et économique. Placé auprès du Premier ministre depuis 1997 à l’initiative de Lionel Jospin, sur les conseils de l’économiste Pierre-Alain Muet, le Conseil d’analyse économique (CAE) a pour mission "d’éclairer, par la confrontation des points de vue et des analyses, les choix du gouvernement en matière économique". Il a pour président délégué Philippe Martin, professeur d’économie à Sciences-Po Paris, et compte dans ses rangs vingt des meilleurs chercheurs français en économie.

Mais le CAE va s'enrichir de deux nouveaux chercheurs, comme l'indique le Journal Officiel : Isabelle Méjean et de Xavier Jaravel.

Agée de 39 ans et diplômée de l’université Paris 1 Sorbonne en économie en 2003, Isabelle Méjean réalise par la suite un doctorat, toujours à la Sorbonne dont le sujet de thèse se nomme : "International Market Segmentation and Globalization in Open Economics". Dans son jury de thèse on retrouve d’ailleurs un certain… Philippe Martin. En 2012, elle passe son Habilitation à diriger des recherches, dont le jury comporte également deux économistes aujourd'hui membres du CAE : Thierry Mayer et Farid Toubal. Aujourd’hui professeur à l’Ecole Polytechnique, les travaux de recherche d'Isabelle Méjean concernent la macroéconomie internationale. Xavier Jaravel, quant à lui, fut diplômé de Sciences-Po Paris en 2011 et a obtenu un doctorat de l’université Harvard en 2016. Après un post-doc à Stanford, il est désormais Associate Professor à la London School of Economics (LSE) et ses travaux portent sur l’innovation et la productivité.

Les deux nouveaux nommés vont rejoindre une institution aux membres prestigieux. Jean Tirole, prix Nobel d’économie 2014, y figure depuis de nombreuses années. Par ailleurs, on y retrouve trois professeurs de Sciences-Po : Yann Algan, doyen de l'Ecole d'affaires publiques, Thierry Mayer et Stéphane Carcillo. Du côté des universités françaises, il y a Elise Huillery et Gabrielle Fack, qui enseignent à Paris-Dauphine, et Katheline Schubert, Claudia Senik ainsi qu’Anne Perrot, inspectrice générale des finances, qui sont professeurs à la Sorbonne. Emmanuelle Auriol, elle, est professeur à Toulouse School of Economics (TSE) et à l’Université Toulouse 1 Capitole. Par ailleurs, on retrouve Corinne Prost, chercheuse affiliée au CREST, un centre de recherche en économie et statistique à laquelle participent des chercheurs de l’ENSAE ParisTech, de l’ENSAI, et de l’École polytechnique, ainsi que Farid Toubal professeur à l’ENS Paris-Saclay.

Des chercheurs français travaillant à l’étranger font également partie du CAE, dont Camille Landais, enseignant à la London School of Economics, Thomas Philippon, professeur à l’université de New-York et Stefanie Stantcheva professeur à Harvard. Enfin, d'importantes institutions économiques hexagonales sont représentées avec Xavier Ragot, président de l’OFCE, Jean-Luc Tavernier, directeur général de l’Insee, Odile Renaud-Basso, directrice générale du Trésor, et Sébastien Jean, directeur du CEPII.
