Les ménages français à la traîne sur leur épargne
La Banque de France a publié un rapport sur l'évolution de l'épargne des ménages français au premier trimestre 2022. Résultat : les flux de placements financiers des ménages s'élèvent à 162,5 milliards d'euros sur un an lors de ce premier trimestre 2022, soit 53,7 milliards de plus par rapport à son niveau d'avant la pandémie.

Les Français font des économies ! C'est en tous cas ce que révèle le dernier rapport de la Banque de France publié la semaine dernière. Il montre en effet qu'au premier trimestre, le flux de placements est en baisse en cumul sur quatre trimestres glissants (162,5 milliards après 165,8 milliards) mais son niveau demeure plus élevé que celui d'avant-Covid (108,8 milliards en 2019).
"La consommation des ménages a repris par rapport à la période du Covid mais dans la mesure où le revenu des ménages a été bien protégé tout au long de la pandémie, la capacité d'épargne demeure significative", affirme François Mouriaux, directeur des statistiques monétaires et financières de la Banque de France, puisque le taux d'épargne des ménages a lui baissé au premier trimestre 2022 (17,1 % contre 18,3 % au trimestre précédent).
Une confiance dans les banques
"Il n'y a pas de réaction très forte, probablement parce que les ménages font confiance aux banques centrales pour contrôler l'inflation", affirme François Mouriaux. Ceci permet donc de résister aux effets de la guerre en Ukraine et à l'inflation qui s'en suivrait. Mais finalement celle-ci n'a encore aucun impact sur l'épargne que s'accordent ou non les ménages français.
Plus précisément, la valeur des détentions est en baisse au premier trimestre. Pourquoi ? Du fait de la chute des cours boursiers sur l'assurance-vie et les actions. A fortiori, c'est l'épargne des ménages français qui recule elle aussi lors des trois premiers mois de l'année : elle passe de 68,5 à 67,2 milliards d'euros.
Le détail du flux de placements financiers indique aussi la baisse de l'épargne mise en œuvre en produits de taux sur un an, elle descend à 111 milliards cumulés sur quatre trimestres au lieu de 114,9 au dernier trimestre.
