Places financières : Paris marque un retour fulgurant dans le top 10

Selon une étude réalisée par le think tank britannique Z/Yen sur plus de 12 000 professionnels de la finance, Paris est devenue la dixième place financière du monde, et le premier centre financier de l'union européenne aux dépens d’Amsterdam et Francfort. Sans grande surprise, Wall Street et la City dominent encore et toujours ce classement.

Cette étude, publiée annuellement depuis une quinzaine d’années, reprend un nombre de facteurs essentiels : la fiscalité, la régulation, les infrastructures, la main-d'œuvre ou encore l'environnement légal de la place financière observée. Grâce à ce sondage réalisé sur 12 862 professionnels de la finance, cette étude permet d’élaborer un système de points pour classer les différentes villes.

En haut du classement, New York devance Londres d’une vingtaine de points. Puis, sur la troisième place du podium se hisse Hong Kong, qui dépasse Singapour cette année.

Cette première place pour Wall Street s’explique par un environnement économique favorable, une bonne réputation, un secteur financier performant, des professionnels qualifiés, et de bonnes infrastructures. Malgré la pandémie et le Brexit, la bonne connexion internationale et le capital humain ne semblent pas avoir été affectés à Londres. Toutefois les prochaines années peuvent s’avérer dangereuses pour la City, car de nombreuses entreprises veulent maintenir un accès direct au marché européen. Pour cela, Londres mise sur un assouplissement de sa réglementation afin d'attirer davantage d'entreprises et d'investisseurs.

Quant à la capitale française, la progression est remarquable. En un an, Paris s’est hissée de la vingt-cinquième place à la dixième. Grâce au fort capital humain, aux très bonnes infrastructures de la capitale et à la renommée de la formation, Paris est devenue la seule grande ville de l'Union européenne à intégrer le top 10 du classement. Les autres villes européennes ne se classent qu'à la quatorzième place pour Francfort et qu’à la dix-septième place pour Francfort. Malgré ces progressions causées par le Brexit, aucune ville n’a réussi à émerger comme rivale de la City.

Outre-Atlantique, les places d’Amérique du Nord réalisent d’excellents résultats. San Francisco et Los Angeles arrivent à la 5e et 7e place, devant Chicago et Boston, respectivement 11e et 12e. Les États-Unis excellent grâce à la bonne gestion du rebond économique au sortir de la pandémie.

En Asie, les centres financiers perdent du terrain. Malgré la présence de Singapour et Hong-Kong dans la première moitié du classement, leurs notes générales ont beaucoup perdu. De même, les places financières chinoises, à l’image de Pékin, Shanghai ou encore Canton, ont toutes perdu entre 2 et 10 places au classement. Malgré une bonne résistance économique pendant la pandémie, le manque de confiance des professionnels locaux vient pénaliser les centres financiers asiatiques.
