Industrie : l’Asie et les Etats-Unis raflent la mise en matière d’investissements / Des progrès à souligner pour l’Union européenne
La croissance des volumes d’investissements industriels mondiaux s’est établie à 4,9% sur un an et certaines zones du globe en ont bénéficié bien plus que d’autres. S’ils diminuent dans l’Union européenne, ils affichent cependant un niveau supérieur à celui qui était le leur avant la crise pandémique, selon un baromètre réalisé par le cabinet Trendeo, Fives, l'Institut de la réindustrialisation et McKinsey.

Les investissements industriels ont la cote aux Etats-Unis et en Asie. Si les volumes industriels mondiaux ont progressé de 4,9% entre la mi-2022 (second semestre 2021 + premier semestre 2022) et la mi-2023 (second semestre 2022 + premier semestre 2023), leur croissance n’a pas concerné l’ensemble de la planète ni des secteurs, montre le baromètre sur les investissements industriels mondiaux réalisé par le cabinet Trendeo, Fives, l'Institut de la réindustrialisation et McKinsey.
Dans le détail, au niveau mondial, les activités de fabrication, avec 900 milliards d’investissement de juillet 2022 à juin 2023 (P2), sont en hausse de 10 % sur les douze mois précédents et également 27 % au-dessus de leur moyenne annuelle depuis 2016. "Il faut tenir compte de l’existence d’un projet exceptionnel de Samsung (227 milliards pour un cluster de 5 usines de semiconducteurs). La production d’énergie est en baisse comme la logistique et les activités agricoles", indique le baromètre. "Les data-centers, les activités de gestion des déchets et la R&D sont en hausse – pour la gestion des déchets en raison d’un projet atypique : 20 milliards de stockage de déchets nucléaires en Suisse", précise également Trendeo.
Géographiquement, l’Asie apparaît comme la première destination (54 % de l’investissement des douze derniers mois, soit 711,3 milliards de dollars) et a vu ses investissements industriels augmenter de 25%. Ils apparaissent en baisse en Chine (- 28%) alors que la Corée du Sud a vu une explosion des siens (hausse de plus de 2000%). Pour ce qui est des Amériques, le flux annuel d’investissements progresse aux Etats-Unis (4%), au Mexique (88%) et au Brésil (30%). A noter que les investissements annuels aux Etats-Unis se situent 52% au-dessus de leur moyenne 2016-2022.
L’Europe, la troisième destination avec 10 % du total, (et 7 % pour l’Union européenne), est à la fois en dessous de sa moyenne annuelle et en décélération. "Par pays, la situation est plus contrastée, avec l’Allemagne et le Royaume-Uni en baisse sur les deux indicateurs, la France en baisse mais au-dessus de son niveau moyen, la Russie en reprise mais restant sous son niveau moyen ", explique Trendeo. Les parts de marché de l’Union européenne ont plutôt augmenté ces dernières années, s’établissant à 6,6% au premier semestre 2023 contre 2,7% durant les six premiers mois de 2016.
Il convient de noter que si les entreprises européennes ont une capacité d’investissement équivalente à celle des entreprises américaines (2 172 milliards de 2016 à 2023 pour les entreprises européennes, 2 245 milliards pour les américaines), elles investissent plus à l’étranger et l’Europe reçoit moins d’investissement étranger, si bien que l’Europe ne reçoit que 66 % de la capacité d’investissement de ses entreprises (43 % même pour l’Union européenne).
Dans le détail, les entreprises de l’Union européenne sont tournées vers l’investissement extérieur pour les projets concernant l’hydrogène, l’éolien ou encore la chimie. A l’inverse, elles sont très majoritairement tournées vers l’investissement local pour les projets de R&D, le nucléaire et les équipements électriques (projets de batteries).
