EXCLUSIF. Il y a trois semaines, le président et CEO d’Accenture, Pierre Nanterme, quittait son poste pour raisons de santé. On vient d’apprendre son décès. WanSquare salue un ami de longue date de notre média, un patron exceptionnel et un libéral convaincu.

J’ai perdu un ami, avec lequel j’ai partagé de nombreux combats. D’abord au sein de la Commission Économique du Medef, ensuite au sein de la Commission Attali I et II dont il était l’un des membres les plus créatifs. Enfin au service des enfants handicapés, cause qui nous réunissait régulièrement.

Pierre Nanterme vient donc de décéder d’un cancer du côlon qui lui avait été diagnostiqué en juillet 2016 et pour lequel il avait été opéré peu de temps après. Il y a trois semaines, lorsque ses amis ont appris que celui qui était devenu le président et CEO d’Accenture, quittait son poste pour raisons de santé, nous avons tous redouté le pire qui est hélas arrivé.

Les messages de la profession ont été nombreux à l’annonce de sa disparition. Satya Nadella, le patron de Microsoft, Tim Cook, celui d’Apple, Marc Benioff, le dirigeant de Salesforce, ou Bill McDermott celui de SAP ont loué ses qualités de dirigeant et d’homme. Ce qui témoigne de l’étendue de son carnet d’adresses.

Diplômé de l’ESSEC, Pierre Nanterme a rejoint Accenture en 1983. Après avoir grimpé tous les échelons, il est devenu président-directeur général en janvier 2011 et a accédé au poste de président du conseil en février 2013.

Durant son mandat, Accenture a toujours réalisé d’excellents résultats financiers, enregistrant une croissance nettement supérieure à celle du marché. Les revenus de la société ont ainsi augmenté de 55 %, passant de 25,5 milliards de dollars au cours de l’exercice 2011 à 39,6 milliards de dollars au cours de l’exercice 2018. Ce Lyonnais a également joué un rôle déterminant dans le basculement des activités vers des domaines à forte croissance comme les services numériques, le cloud et la sécurité, qui représentent désormais plus de 60 % du chiffre d’affaires.

Pierre Nanterme a été membre du board du Dialogue économique transatlantique, coalition de dirigeants européens et américains pour stimuler le commerce transatlantique. Il a également participé à plusieurs groupes de travail du sommet du B20 (réunion des dirigeants d’entreprises des pays du G20) en 2017 et occupé plusieurs fonctions exécutives ou de présidence dans les instances du B20. En 2017, il est classé 67e meilleur patron au monde par la revue américaine Harvard Business Review pour sa gestion d'Accenture. En 2018, il est de nouveau classé parmi les 100 patrons les plus performants au monde.
