Un lieutenant d’Eurazeo part chez Montefiore

Selon les informations de Wansquare, Eric Schaefer, qui a passé 16 ans chez Eurazeo dont les quatre dernières années à New York, part chez Montefiore à Paris. La firme dirigée par Virginie Morgon est en passe de recruter un managing director américain.

Le mercato annuel du private equity français commence, et il concerne un poids lourd d’Eurazeo. Eric Sachefer, qui vient de passer 16 ans au sein de la firme d’investissement cotée, dont les quatre dernières années à New York, rentre en France et s’apprête à entrer chez Montefiore. Diplômé de l’Ecole Polytechnique et de HEC Paris, Eric Schaefer a passé toute sa carrière au sein d’Eurazeo puisqu’il est entré au sein de l’équipe d’investissement du groupe alors dirigé par Patrick Sayer dès la fin de ses études, en 2004.

Il a ensuite gravi les échelons pour devenir director puis managing director d’Eurazeo Capital en 2016, où il est parti à New York pour l’ouverture du bureau nord-américain de la firme, aux côtés de la présidente du directoire, Virginie Morgon. Il était en charge du sourcing et de la réalisation d’investissements, ainsi que du suivi de la performance des sociétés du portefeuille. Au cours des années, il s’est spécialisé dans les secteurs des services aux entreprises et des biens de consommation et a participé au rachat puis au développement d’Eutelsat, des hôtels économiques B&B, du loueur de voitures Europcar, d’Elis, des jeux Asmodee, du confiseur CPK et de Trader Interactive. Actuellement, il siège même aux conseils d’Europcar, qui a obtenu un PGE de 220 millions d’euros début mai, du groupe Asmodee, de CPK ou encore de Trader Interactive.

Il rejoint Montefiore Investment, la société de gestion emmenée par Eric Bismuth, qui vient de constituer un trésor de guerre d'1 milliard d'euros après le closing de deux fonds en début d'année : le fonds Montefiore V a atteint 850 millions d'euros, contre 450 millions d'euros pour le millésime précédent, et est accompagné d'un véhicule de co-investissement de 150 millions d'euros. Il va investir des tickets moyens de 30 à 200 millions d'euros dans des entreprises de services.

De son côté, après le départ de ce lieutenant de longue date, le bureau new yorkais d’Eurazeo - qui compte une vingtaine de personnes dont Jill Granoff, la responsable d'Eurazeo Brands entrée au comex du groupe récemment -, ne compte pas en rester là. Virginie Morgon, qui a déménagé en France cet été, continue à piloter à distance le groupe sur les deux côtés de l’Atlantique, et Eurazeo est en passe d‘annoncer l’arrivée d’un nouveau poids lourd du private equity, de nationalité américaine. Ce recrutement devrait être officialisé début septembre.
